Colbie Marie Caillat (born May 28, 1985 in Newbury Park, California) is an American acoustic-folk singer-songwriter from Malibu, California. Her father, Ken Caillat, co-produced Fleetwood Mac s Rumours and Tusk albums; Colbie recalls being around the likes of Mick Fleetwood and John McVie as a child. Colbie picked up her acoustic guitar and recorded her first song she composed at the age of 19. After finishing her songs, she posted it on her Myspace Account. There was no response from the public for the first few months. Howerver, when she added the single, Bubbly to her Myspace, people started to surf her page. Her page pulled in a few thousand hits a day. Rolling Stone highlighted her as one of the top female artists on Myspace. She was the number one unsigned artist for four months and garnered over 17 million plays. Her profile has garnered over 31 million plays. For the week of 17 July 2007, Bubbly was featured at the iTunes Store as the free Single of the Week . The promotion coincided with the release of Coco, her first, and to date, only, studio album.
